What kind of trade is this for the Mariners? It's horrible! We get Franklin Guitierrez, who hit .258 last year with 8 homeruns and 41 RBI in 399 at bats. We get Aaron Heilman, who had a 5.18 ERA last year. He is 30 years old and when the Mets didn't allow him to be a starter, he threw a fit and caused problems. We also get Endy Chavez, who is a career backup. We get 3 "b" list minor league prospects. We gave up JJ Putz, Shawn Green, Luis Valbeuno AND Jeremy Reed for this? This is absolutely ridiculous. I have been a lifelong Mariners fan and this trade just hurts me. I know that we have to rebuild, but I believe we could have got A LOT more for Putz, Green and Reed. This trade disgusts me. Nice start Jackie Z!

It's called dump salary, get some young players, and rebuild. Look for more deals like this.

There is no "Genie" that is going to come to Seattle and make the Mariners AL West Champs. Mariner fans need to get use to the work "rebuilding", just like Seahawks fans. When you try to take short cuts, you end up with Richie Sexson, and Patrick Kerney.

Next to go should be Jarrod Washburn, who should have went to the Yankees last season. Then Matt Hasselbeck (oops, I better go to the Seahawks board).

Jack Z is supposedly a good judge to talent but it is a little dissapointing that they don't appear to be going after any big names. Rebuilding may be the best way to go but it seems like what they got in turn for Putz is grossly inadequate. Guttierez was supposed to be a star in the making when he was traded to the Indians a few years ago but he has been dreadfully mediocre at the plate. Who knows maybe he'll blossom late just like Raul Ibanez did. Probably not. In any case their starting pitching is their best case. Maybe Silva will lose weight and so reduce his back problems and can return to being the 4.30 ERA starting pitcher that he is supposed to be. Maybe Bedard really will be ready to start the season as is now projected. Bedard, Felix, Rowland Smith.....the starting pitching might get them to 70 wins next year. Heilman apparently has some talent so maybe if they make him a starter he might show us something close to the talent that Carlos Silva has. Overall, the next few years are looking at a run like the Minnesota Twins of mid and late 90's.

Let's just hope this doesn't mean they will move Morrow back to the bullpen. If anyone deserves to start it's him. Who really cares if Heilman gets his feelings hurt. He's 30 years old and couldn't locked down a starting job yet for anyone else.

Does anyone know of any other time in history that a city's main university, the NFL team and the MLB team were all rebuilding at the same time after horrid seasons?

Stupid people will be the cause of the end of civilization.

They'd better not move Morrow back to the bullpen.
This team is gonna need a closer like Grandma needs a Ferrari.

They need a closer as much as Pat O'Day needs a pop.
